Target killings in Karachi

Recent wave of target killing in Karachi took life of another prominent personality. According to media news Hakeem Mahmood Ahmed Barkati lost his life in target killing incident in his office. Brakati was prominent educationist and writer who wrote forty books on different topics. He had remarkable personality and he was one of founders of prominent Hamdard group he was also a close friend of former genius Hakeem Mohammed Saeed. Hakeem Saeed also lost his life in target killing some years ago. Barakati received pride of performance due to his love of education and remarkable writing work. According to Police sources at least 104 people have been killed in different incidents of target killing in Karachi during the last two weeks.

Recent wave of target killing took more than three hundred lives in 2012. Religious scholars, educationist and prominent personalities are prime target of recent target killing. Despite killing of large number of people so far no target killer is punished or arrested. Most of people who lost their lives were innocent citizen and were not involved in any terrorist activity. Killer gangs belong to different sectarian and ethnic groups targeting their rivals most of times in broad day light. Unfortunately due to political interest present PPP government is seeing everything withblind eyes and taking only cosmetics steps to calm down burning situation of Pakistan political and cultural hub Karachi and things are going bad to worse every day. Until and unless government is ready to face realities and arrest and punish all criminals without distinguishing ofpolitical affiliation dream of peace can’t come true in Karachi.
