Connecticut primary school shooting incident

The US is still in shock and grief after the massacre of 27 people, most of them were innocent children, in a Connecticut primary school. The shooting incident is considered the worst massacre in US history. President Obama called incident as a national tragedy. The President also wants to amend the US gun laws after this tragic incident. Killing of innocent people is a heinous act and can’t provide justification to any cause. Delay in justice is killing of justice. Those involved in the killing of innocent people must brought to justice immediately.

Such type of tragic incidents and killing of innocent people have also become a daily routine around the world. Record number of civilians, most of them women and children, lost their lives in Afghanistan due to Nato bombardment and roadside bombings. Earlier this month a roadside bomb killed 17 civilians on their way to a wedding party in western Afghanistan. Civilian population is also paying high price for US drone attacks in Pakistan. An attack on religious seminary in south Waziristan killed 80 innocent children a few years ago. The killing of seminary children in Damadola, south Waziristan, is still considered worst in Pakistan’s tribal history.

In his recent statement former US president Jimmy Carter accepted that drones are targeting civilians. After the departure of US forces from Iraq the situation there is still unstable and scores of people are routinely killed. Blood of these innocent people is not different from the victims of the Connecticut tragedy. The world community must raise concern for these people who are paying a high price for US war adventure in different countries.
