According to media news the Supreme Court of Pakistan directed the Oil and Gas regulation authorities of Pakistan to reduce the compress natural gas (CNG) prices 30 rupees per kg after it ruled that linkage of CNG with petroleum products was unlawful. Debate on supremacy of Judiciary and Parliament is still going on in Pakistan. After increasing price of petroleum products people are using CNG as an alternative to run their vehicles. Parliamentarians belong to both ruling party and opposition claim that Parliament is supreme and supreme court cant by pass parliament rulings. True reality is that after failure of Parliament instead of parliament Supreme court is trying hard to provide relief to ordinary people.
In third world countries where ruling class always use judiciary to provide cover to their illegal and unconstitutional acts and always need powerless judiciary to provide cover to their corruption stories Judiciary in Pakistan is trying hard to change this trend. Due to his brave stance Judiciary is facing tough actions of Pakistan ruling class. In former dictator Musharraff rule Chief justice of Pakistan suffered six months illegal detention with his small children. After massive public pressure and country wide movement Zardari government had forced to restore him as a chief justice of Pakistan. Now first time in country history even President and Prime Minister seen standing in front of court.
Supreme Court brave decisions against privation of Pakistan Steel, Swiss Bank corruption cases, Rental power plants corruption cases, and recently in Asghar khan case in which former ISI chief distributed millions of rupees among corrupt politicians were highly appreciated by general public. Recently Chief Justice went to Baluchistan province and summoned several top official of government and security forces after several incident of target killing and worst peace situation. First time in country history supreme court also summoned several top officials of Pakistan powerful secret agencies In missing person case. Several people picked up by powerful agencies also freed after intervention of chief justice and Supreme Court of Pakistan. Unfortunately in present democratic era Judiciary is still facing tough time in Pakistan due to lack of interest and personal benefits ruling class and powerful agencies still not implementing decision of supreme court in several cases which is very unfortunate.
